What is the difference between Montessori and traditional education?
Montessori emphasizes learning through all five senses, not just through listening, watching, or reading. Children in Montessori classes learn at their own, individual pace and according to their own choice of activities from hundreds of possibilities. Learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

What role will I play as a parent if my child attends OMS?
Most important, we encourage open communication between parents and teachers. Our teachers provide a daily report for your children on their activities, but they also welcome information you can provide about your child’s life because so often a child’s behavior is greatly affected by incidents both in and out of school. In addition, we encourage all parents to come to the school and be involved in your child’s class – there are various ways in which you can participate, such as sharing an art/creative activity, reading a book at story time, talking to the children about your career, or bringing something interesting from your travels or from your hobby collection to share.
Do you have a hot lunch program?
We provide a hot lunch program at an additional cost. Children are welcome to bring a cold lunch from home instead. The school provides milk, juice, and morning and afternoon snacks in accordance to the USDA guidelines.
